Investing can be confusing, and with the plethora of investing how-to books out there, it's easy to lose your way, says Adrian Mastracci, investment counsel at Vancouver's KCM Wealth Management.
Adrian Mastracci, investment counsel at Vancouver’s ‘fee-only’ KCM Wealth Management, says, “Here is a short list of titles to help you wade through your investment options.”
Walk into any well-stocked bookstore and the investing section may seem like a maze with hundreds of titles competing to become a vital part of your bookshelf.
Here's Mastracci's short list of titles to help you wade through your investment options:
1. Winning the Loser's Game, by Charles D. Ellis
Mastracci's first pick covers the policies and strategies for successful investing. It's one of the best books on the simple, proven, investment strategies that can be easily incorporated into an investment plan, he says.
2. The Four Pillars of Investing, by William Bernstein
This selection concentrates on constructing the investment portfolio. The four pillars it covers are the theory, history, psychology and business of investing. The last part stitches the four pillars together.
3. The Intelligent Investor, by Benjamin Graham (updated by Jason Zweig)
This book is about the importance of being disciplined, harnessing your emotional side and thinking for yourself. It's a classic refresher in developing long-term strategies for an investment plan.
